As we all know, unpleasant disasters have been happening and through this period of unhappiness, many around the globe have stretched out helping hands to these unfortunate countries in aid. In view of this, YMCA is also participating in this help effort and hope you will join us as well.
YMCA invites you and your friends to the movie premiere of “Get Smart”. Not only will you get to enjoy an excellent movie, the funds from ticket sales will be used towards charity causes!

Why raise funds?
Money from the movie will be used to recruit, retain and recognise more than 2,000 volunteers who serve with the YMCA to help reach out to the poor and disabled, to enrich their lives.
What are some of the recent achievements under the Lim Kim San Volunteers Programme?
1) Volunteers Mobilised (For year 2007)
YMCA mobilised more than 3,900 volunteers to reach out to 1,285 beneficiaries through nine partnering Voluntary Welfare Organisations, beyond our own beneficiaries (YMCA Project Bridge).
2) YMCA – NUS Volunteers Management Programme (Started in 2007)
Professional tie-up with NUS to train volunteers to increase skills and productivity
3) Volunteer Capability Courses (Started in 2007)
YMCA equips volunteers with the necessary skill sets and knowledge through regular training workshops. These workshops with the topics on Events Management and Service-learning, aim to enhance volunteers’ effectiveness and capabilities.
4) Volunteer Management System (Started in 2007)
A systematic approach to recruiting, training and recognising volunteers, as well as database system to track volunteer-services and training were implemented.
5) Volunteers’ Appreciation and Recognition (Launched in 2007)
Volunteers recognition schemes, such as the Volunteers Appreciation Night cum Awards Presentation, serve to acknowledge volunteers for their services were introduced.
6) Other Volunteers Programme includes the formation of University YMCAs at Singapore Management University and National University of Singapore to engage undergraduates to be of service to the community; and the Citibank-YMCA Youth For Causes to promote youth development and social entrepreneurship.
