| Where would the best place be to install a carbon monoxide alarm within a house? |

There is no need to place an alarm high or near the ceiling like a smoke detector, as CO doesn't 'rise' like smoke but instead mixes with the air.
Probably the best place would be close to bedroom entrances.
Don't put them in high humidity spots like bathrooms, or near to furnaces - brief emissions of CO may not be enough to be threatening and will dissipate but could set off false alarms.
Install them out of reach of kids or pets!
Always a good idea to get an alarm that has certificated spec's (UL)
and if the alarm runs off mains power, also make sure it is battery backed up.
Follow the makers instructions for installation and you should be right.
