Google and Those Boxes

Those lovely little boxes on the right of a google search page do actually generate considerable traffic.

Google adwords work!

I've never tried adwords, tried overture and didn't like it. Adwords must generate some great income, because, if I remember correctly, its about 99% of Google's income. Thats taking into account adwords and adsense. I use adsense on one of my sites, its new, 5 months, and doesn't get much traffic. I have seen at least 1 click per day though for the last few weeks. I can only imagine what a popular site generates for Google.

I feel those ads on your site would pay far more revenue if you incorporated them into your content more, making them more transparent and appear as part of "the content" - at least embedded within your content.

But you are correct they can yield very good revenue.

You know I thought that too, but then I started looking at traffic through sites, and it seems to me that people don't really click on links in the body as much as outside the body. My adsense generates about *edit* conversion from impression to click.

You're not supposed to talk about conversion rates etc according to google adsense TOS.

Sounds great though.

thanks for the heads up, I edited it so its not there now. I thought I just couldn't talk about the actual dollar amounts, it has been awhile since I read the rules.
