I've never been able to figure out how to hide straight html code. If you have something to hide though, you can write it in an external javascript file. This just makes it harder to find, anybody that knows a little bit about web development will be able to find it.

May I ask, why would you want to hide html?

You may ask, and the answer would be to simply understand the concept.

Perhaps a developer would want to hide meta tags, or perhaps say the location of streaming media files available through a flash player.

that is a great point, do you know if it is possible. I've never had a reason, except to just know how.

I only did a very small search for this so forgive me if it's not validated.
