I perform in South Florida as “Stash”, an offbeat Polish Magician….and Poland is happy to get rid of him.
I also do a straight magician act under “The Great Tombino”.
Being a long time poker player, I produced a DVD on how to perform tricks and flourishes with poker chips. Want to look like a veteran poker player? Please visit my website at www.pokerchipsvideo.com. |

Skills?
I think #1 is that you have to be funny, have wit, have good patter. The magic is a vehicle for that.
Stash, my Polish character is a very funny stage act, and doesn't take that much technical skills. Some props, some misdirection, and some funny schtick.
Doing close-up or table magic is a different thing. You have to be able to manipulate cards, coins, silks, sponge balls, rope, and still have the wit and patter. I'm good at doing fancy things with cards and poker chips.

Thanks for that, sounds interesting, starting to build up a picture of what's needed.
I imagine people wanting to get into this business have to practise as often as possible and in front of many many people. |
