Music:

New Album Puts Trance in Your Pants

"Sonic Tonic," from commercial producer Scott G (The G-Man), contains 6 trance tracks and 8 electronic-pop songs.

Alternative marketing for the innovative album targets DJ record pools and college radio. Delvian Records is releasing the CD, while Gate Media handles distribution.

The music on the new album called SONIC TONIC contains "ahead-of-the-art rhythms that go beyond bands like Crystal Method or Chemical Brothers," states Brian Forest, vice president of G-Man Music & Radical Radio.

"Plus, this new G-Man album also features the kind of electronic-pop made famous by such artists as Moby, Kraftwerk, Devo, and Bowie," Forest added.

Tracks on the album are for everyone who likes to dance or "space out," Forest states. "The music on 'Sonic Tonic' is alternately trippy, zippy, moody, and groove-heavy, especially in the pulsating, rave-style track called 'Trance in Your Pants'," he said.

"Trance in Your Pants" uses the relentless rhythms of trance music, and then adds layers of synthesizer, guitar, harmonic-distortion flutes, and even one section with vibraphone. "It's the wildest trance-rave track club-goers have heard in a long time," Forest notes.

The "Sonic Tonic" album is being released by Delvian Records on March 1, with promotion via The Gate Media Group, both of San Francisco. "At the start, marketing will concentrate on dance DJ record pools and college radio because in trance music, these are the true tastemakers," Forest said.

The G-Man's last recording, "Platinum Age of the Remix," was named Trance Album of the Year by the 2004 Los Angeles Music Awards. His first CD, "Grin Groove," was named LAMA Electronica Album of the Year in 2002, and his second recording, "Electro Bop," was a nominee in that category in 2003.

Delvian Records distributes the music of independent artists who embrace the crossover market that is emerging in the new media age. Enjoying the impact of musical diversification, Delvian offers music in a wide range of genres, including electronic/dance, rock, lifestyle, rap/R&B, comedy, and inspirational.

The Gate Media Group provides manufacturing, marketing and promotional services for artists, recording firms and corporations. In addition to music-oriented customers, their clients include the US Army, Whirlpool, Century 21, HBO, and The New York Times.

Scott G is a creative director for NARIP, a member of NARAS, and a journalist for the Immedia Wire Service and MusicDish. His primary business is G-Man Music & Radical Radio, where most recently he was the voice artist and music composer on 4 radio commercials for Verizon Wireless, 8 for Goodrich, and 1 each for Micron Technology and The Auto Club.

"I enjoy hearing my music in lots of different situations," G stated, "whether it's a club, a college radio station or a commercial. Now the goal is to get the 'Sonic Tonic' tracks into everyone's home or car, one way or another. I'd like to hear these songs in spots. A lot of advertising could use a little 'Trance in Your Pants'," G-Man said.
