Not sure if you'll be able to splurge this year on Halloween? Find out how one resident has taken matters into her own hands.
Halloween is always a fun time of year. Not only is there something magical or even eerie about Halloween, but it allows us to break free from the daily hum drum. We can become enchanting, terrifying or even sultry with Halloween costumes and Halloween decorations. Each year, in particular, brings new excitement in the form of outdoor Halloween decorations and this year is no exception.
Tracey Patterson, a resident of Detroit, Michigan, has taken Halloween decorations to a whole new level. Declaring "Halloween War" on her neighbors, she has challenged local residents to a contest of creating the best outdoor Halloween decorations, spending the least amount of money. In other words, no abundance of store bought decorations are allowed. Competitors must focus on homemade Halloween decorations.
Patterson is an avid Halloween fan. She decided to create this year's Halloween war zone in response to the current economic conditions that are predicted to have a major impact in her area. As noted by Patterson, "We simply cannot afford to spend as much on Halloween decorations this year, but my kids still wanted to spook up the house. So I did a little research online and decided to make our own Halloween decorations this year."
So far, Patterson has spent about $20 on her outdoor Halloween decorations and is posting her progress at www.partyideashalloween.weebly.com. She also has a video of one of her bat crafts at www.youtube.com/watch?v=E37xviO0wfM. In total, she plans on spending no more than $40 to complete her Halloween decor.
When asked how she is managing to create her flying ghosts, huge spiders and graveyard posts, Patterson indicated that she found a new book online called Easy Halloween Crafts. For just $17, Easy Halloween Crafts contains over 45 crafts that make great projects to do along with the kids. In addition, the book includes Halloween recipes and homemade Halloween costumes. "Everything is easy to make and doesn't cost a fortune. In fact, many of the materials needed to make the crafts are items we already have at home," said Patterson.
Easy Halloween crafts is a timely release by HalloweenFunFactory.com. With so many Americans more mindful of how they spend their dollars these days, the book provides an effective alternative to spook up some Halloween fun with unique indoor and outdoor Halloween decorations that rival those found in stores.
There's no need for the kids (or big kid's/adults) to suffer this Halloween. With a little creativity and imagination, you can find more ways to celebrate this year than ever before. Like Patterson, start your own Halloween Wars in your neighborhood. And for ideas to get you started, stop by HalloweenFunFactory.com and pick up your copy of Easy Halloween Crafts. You'll have a ghoulish good time making your own outdoor Halloween decorations, without sacrificing Halloween fun. In the words of Patterson, "It's on!"
