Pathlore Software Corporation, a global leader in providing learning management
software and services to industry and government, has appointed J. Brendan Herron
Jr., vice president of strategic development, to guide its future mergers and
acquisitions (M&A) activity. Herron will frame strategic partnerships and
serve as a liaison between Pathlore and the investment community.
Herron had previously managed marketing for Pathlore. To fill the post left
open by Herron, Pathlore chief executive, Steve Thomas, has hired e-learning
industry veteran Wayne Caccamo to lead worldwide marketing from Pathlore's Cupertino,
California, office.
"Brendan Herron has completed more than 25 M&A deals during his career;
so we want him to focus his efforts on carrying out acquisitions," said
Thomas. " There are certain companies with exciting technologies that would
hold a lot of value for our customers - and we'd like to buy those firms."
Herron's goal is to add products and services that will further improve Pathlore's
industry leading value proposition for customers. At the same time, he expects
to accelerate Pathlore's growth.
Herron has more than 20 years of M&A experience. Before Pathlore, he was
an executive with the merchant-banking group Hannon Armstrong & Company,
an investment bank specialising in infrastructure and technology. While there,
Herron provided services for high-tech concerns, ranging from start-ups to publicly
traded companies.
Prior to that, Herron led US M&A activity, joint ventures and strategic
planning at Aggregate Industries Plc, a multi-national building materials company.
As vice president of marketing, Wayne Caccamo will oversee global plans and
programmes to promote Pathlore's solutions, which optimise business performance
by facilitating individual and organisational learning.
"What excites us about Wayne is the combination of his creativity and
strategic thinking," said Thomas. "He'll greatly multiply opportunities
for us to beat our competitors and boost revenue.
"Contrary to our competitors' claims, Pathlore has the largest customer
base in its industry," Thomas added. "We'll be relying on Wayne and
his team to communicate that and promote our leadership position."
Before Pathlore, Caccamo spent three years with Docent, Inc., a rival provider
of learning-management systems. His programmes helped Docent's revenues soar
during the quarters leading up to and immediately following the firm's IPO in
2000.
Before Docent, Caccamo spent more than 11 years in a variety of strategic planning,
marketing and business-development management posts at Hewlett-Packard Company
(HP). Among his many achievements were creating HP's Open Source Solutions Operation
and helping to establish HP as a leader within the Linux and open source movement.
Caccamo holds a master's degree in business administration from Yale University
and a bachelor's degree in economics from Tufts University.
