VEGA wins contract extension

Contributed by newsprovider on Wednesday, August 06 @ 15:03:32 EDT

6 August 2008 – VEGA, a Finmeccanica company, has secured a three-year contract from Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) to continue supporting three synthetic training systems based at the Defence College of Aeronautical Engineering (DCAE).

Under the terms of the £585k contract, VEGA will continue to provide ongoing maintenance and support for the Aircraft Propulsions Systems Trainer (APST), Avionics Systems Trainer (AST) and Compass and Vertical Reference Systems Trainer (CVRST). VEGA will also deliver any modifications or enhancements to the trainers that are identified. VEGA’s relationship with the DCAE dates back to 1996 when it first supplied the college based at RAF Cosford with a computer-based desktop AST. Since 2004, VEGA has provided a series of upgrades for the system, and was previously awarded a £330k contract to upgrade the DCAE’s AST in November 2007. The contract demonstrates the value that the DCAE places in the training solutions developed by VEGA as the college looks to continually produce aeronautical engineers with the ability and skill to ultimately improve the front line capability of the UK armed forces.
