Central Texas’ New Creative Arts School Begins Classes in March 2008

Education Management LLC (EDMC) today announces the addition of The Art Institute of Austin to its Art Institutes system of schools.

With its first day of classes planned for March 31, 2008, The Art Institute of Austin, a branch of The Art Institute of Houston, will occupy approximately 38,000 square feet at 100 Farmers Circle in Austin, Texas. The school will begin enrolling students immediately.

“As the hub of an expanding and dynamic regional economy in Texas, Austin is a natural market for The Art Institutes,” said John Mazzoni, president of The Art Institutes. “Our new location in Austin will be a destination for residents to receive a quality education in a variety of creative arts disciplines, and we are looking forward to being a vital part of the arts and educational community.”

Initially, The Art Institute of Austin will offer bachelor’s degree programs in Audio Production, Fashion and Retail Management, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Media Arts & Animation, Photography, and Web Design & Interactive Media; and associate’s degree programs in Graphic Design and Web Design & Interactive Media.

"I am looking forward to growing our institution to serve a broad audience of students and employers through quality programs in the creative arts,” said Thomas W. Newsom, newly appointed president of The Art Institute of Austin.

There are two existing Art Institutes campuses in Texas, located in Houston (The Art Institute of Houston) and Dallas (The Art Institute of Dallas). The Art Institute of Austin is a branch of the Houston school.
