SpivO News is Rebuilt and Back Online

Contributed by adviatech on Monday, January 14 @ 10:29:55 EST

SpivO launched the SpivO News channel which has been completely rebuilt offering faster news functions and interactive media.

When SpivO went online as a search engine in 2004, SpivO offered three easy to use channels. Those channels included a web search engine, a directory, and SpivO News. The news channel on SpivO has changed four times since then, always improving, and always providing more content. Engineers at SpivO now believe, they have a winner.

SpivO technical engineer, Jack Thomas explains, “News is all about text based content. In the last version of SpivO News, we used an RSS input function that allowed us to bring in images and news releases from thousands of internet sources. However, the more we talked to our core users, the more we learned.”

SpivO’s participating users expressed an interest in simplicity. Most users believed that news should be about simple content whereas only a small percentage were interested in images, slideshows, and news videos. SpivO’s programmers compromised by doing both,

The new SpivO News has a completely text based news system which can be browsed or searched through. Millions of stories are accessible on SpivO News throughout the day and an interactive news feed is also available for headlines and video stories. The Flash based interactive news feature is a small part of SpivO News, as engineers and planning committees wanted to promote the “simplicity” ideals of SpivO which is clearly reflected in SpivO News.

Jack Thomas continues “With the redevelopment of SpivO, we can not express enough the mission of simplicity. In the past, we’ve tried complicating things, we have built channels with many fancy features, but at the end of the day, SpivO is all about the end user. The one thing that will set us apart from other online resources is our ability to serve a lot of information with simplicity, ease of use, and a clean style. The news channel does all of that very efficiently.”

SpivO plans on adding new news resources as time goes on and extending an invitation for news sources to submit RSS feeds. In the near future, they will launch a SpivO News 2008 Presidential Election news channel to cover the campaigns.
