Over 500 Physicians Sign Up in First Month of Extra Cash for Doctors dot Com
One month after launching extra cash for doctors.com, more than 500 physicians have become members. The response has been especially encouraging since no advertising of the site has yet begun. Physicians have learned of the site through online physician forums and search engines.
Like nearly every economic sector, physicians are increasingly facing a shortfall of income. Joe Risser, MD, MPH who founded the website, said "The site represents a first in class for physicians. There are many opportunities for physicians to earn extra income. What Extra Cash for Doctors.com does is to put as many of these opportunities in one place and objectively compare and rate them side by side." There are more than 70 opportunities currently available including
• web-based surveys
• practice-building services such as travel immunizations
• how to find and evaluate moonlighting and locum tenens positions
• conducting clinical trials
• how to become a speaker for a pharmaceutical company
• serving as an expert witness, and more.
Extra Cash for Doctors was formed by a small group of independent physicians with the objective, "physicians helping physicians make ends meet." The site is entirely free to practicing physicians whose credentials are verified before given access to the site. Next, a similar site with opportunities exclusively for nurses is being launched this month.
