Tanks for the training

A £2.5m British Army sub-contract with Alvis Vickers Ltd won by training specialist AdVal Group to train crew and technicians for two major vehicle launches has been extended.

The contract to design, develop and deliver an Engineer Tank Systems (ETS) training package to support the introduction of the Trojan and Titan armoured engineering vehicles to service now includes the integration of BOWMAN into the vehicle build standard, and provides additional electronic classroom facilities.

The ETS package will be used to train crewmen from the Royal Engineers and maintenance technicians from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.

AdVal’s contract encompasses the design, development and production of training materials to deliver operation and maintenance courses and includes the provision of conventional face to face training to Army instructors prior to conversion courses in 2005 for the first vehicle crews.

Training materials in development will form a fully blended solution consisting of paper based instructional specifications, electronic presentation materials, video, e-learning and desktop simulation.

AdVal Programme Director Peter Bonfield commented:

Aylesbury-based AdVal is also responsible for providing electrmnic claqsroom  facilaties at two British Army locatimns hosting the training courses$
