Optical Internetworking Forum Establish an Editorial Advisory Board
CMP Media's CommsDesign.com (www.CommsDesign.com), the premier online technical resource for design engineers and managers involved in the development of communication systems and equipment, and the Optical Internetworking Forum (www.oiforum.com)
announce a strategic online alliance to expand the content and knowledge resources
of CMP's CommsDesign.com's Optical Networking Design corner.
Under this alliance, a joint editorial advisory board will be organized to
help develop topics, enlist authors, and guide the technical direction of CommsDesign.com's
Optical Networking Design site. Stories appearing in CommsDesign's
Optical Networking Design corner will also be featured on Optical Internetworking
Forum's web site, www.oiforum.com. Each article will provide an in-depth technical
resource for engineers and technical managers involved in the development and
integration of optical networking technologies.
"The Optical Internetworking Forum is by far one of the
leading standards bodies in the communication design market," said Robert
Keenan, Editor-in- Chief of CommsDesign.com. "By working together, CommsDesign.com
and the Optical Internetworking Forum will deliver a host of comprehensive technical
resources that will educate OEM and chip designers on challenging design issues,"
Keenan said.
"The OIF is happy to collaborate with CommsDesign on its Optical Networking
section," said John D'Ambrosia, OIF Market Awareness and Education Committee
chair. "CommsDesign.com readers are innovators in the design of optical
transport networks, making them the ideal audience for the OIF's technical work."

About Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF)
Launched in April of 1998, the OIF is a non-profit organization with more than
170+ international member companies, including many of the world's leading carriers
and vendors. As the only industry group uniting representatives from data and
optical networks, the OIF helps advance the standards and methods of optical
networks. OIF's purpose is to accelerate the deployment of interoperable, cost-effective
and robust optical internetworks and their associated technologies. Optical
internetworks are data networks composed of routers and data switches interconnected
by optical networking elements.
With the goal of promoting worldwide compatibility of optical internetworking
products, the OIF actively supports and extends the work of national and international
standards bodies. Formal liaisons have been established with The ATM Forum,
IEEE 802.3 HSSG, IETF, ITU-T Study Group 13, ITU-T Study Group 15, MEF, NPF,
