TEENAGE FEMALE ARTIST FROM NORTHAMPTON PREPARES TO LAUNCH HER MUSIC CAREER WHILE PROTECTING HER MUSIC AND GIVING A PERCENTAGE OF HER PROFITS TO CHARITY.
NORTHAMPTON, MA – December 21, 2004 – Protectomatic Music is working with Kristen Ford to record and release her first EP (Extended Play) Cd as well as a basic distribution, marketing and promotional plan to get her started on her way by her 18th birthday in the late spring of 2005. Together with Protectomatic, Kristen, her family and friends are driving toward completing this project by fundraising the basic costs and starting her out debt free and with no obligations to anyone, redefining the term of an independent artist.
Kristen Ford. Kristen is a 17 year old girl from Western Massachusetts, who’s distinctive blend of rock, pop, and folk have made her stand out from other artists in her genre. With influences such as Ani Difranco, R.E.M and Ben Harper, Kristen’s music is personal as well as powerful. A vocalist and guitar player since the age of 14, Kristen writes guitar driven songs, enriched with lyrics drawn from her own personal experience.
Kristen and her family, working with Protectomatic Music, www.protectomatic.com, the artist representation company, has developed a 7 month business plan to make a five song EP (extended play) recording as well as the marketing and initial distribution to support the recording and Kristen’s launch. Protectomatic's CEO Loren Weisman explained his firm's interest with Kristen by saying “Kristen is starting off on the right foot in the music industry, putting out a recording that will get her started and introduce her to the public while not restricting her to long term agreements. She will be in control.”
Kristen as many teenagers are is active in the social and political circles as well. As the recording is released she will be donating 20% percent of her profits from the sales of both the EP and downloads to a charity which provides aid to Africa. She has chosen this cause in part due to her African American heritage and in her hopes to combat the AIDS epidemic which affects so many in sub-Saharan Africa. Through her dream of making this recording, she will be able to fulfill another dream of helping others.
