Working as an associate with the Faraday Partnership - which helps organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors to design their futures and develop their people through executive coaching, strategic in-house consultancy support and modular development programmes – the specialist independent supplier and developer of bespoke learning delivered by computer, Trainer1, is building an ‘info learn’ induction course to provide an overview of how the Government Offices for the regions work within Europe. Already, Trainer1 has produced the first of three commissioned modules – part of a programme providing an introduction to EU funding.
The course aims to set out operational and financial procedures and will be available via an intranet. It is intended to be accessed as and when necessary – as a ‘half way house’ between knowledge management and e-learning.

The course, which is being rolled out to all seven Government Offices for the Regions, has been commissioned through the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.

Trainer1’s Neil Lasher commented: “These modules are a novel use of computers to disseminate combined learning and performance support tools. As such, this may mark the start of a new manifestation of combining e-learning, performance support and knowledge management.
“While we are delighted to be working with the Faraday Partnership under the direction of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the last few months have seen unprecedented growth in Trainer1’s activities – with a number of major projects begun in both the public and corporate sectors,” he added.

Among Trainer1’s other significant, current, projects are:

· When Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC) decided to roll out ICT induction training for its staff recently, it turned to Trainer1 to produce relevant e-learning materials. In addition to producing custom-built e-learning materials for CCC, Trainer1 also supplied the Lectora authoring tool to the council to enable its in-house developers to also produce some of these e-learning materials.

· Global international human resource consultancy Mercer has awarded Trainer1 a contract to train Mercer’s staff in the UK to use the Lectora authoring tool to create e-learning materials for its IT and training staff.

· Westinghouse Rail Systems (WRS) has rolled out the use of the Trivantis learning management system (LMS), CourseMill, and authoring tool, Lectora. These products have been supplied to Westinghouse by Trainer1. WRS is also exploiting the opportunity of using Zirada, the Lectora authoring tool for publishing materials on pocket PCs and Palm PDAs.

· Trainer1 is expanding work with Lanarkshire County Council to help the council’s trainers develop e-learning materials using the Lectora Publisher authoring tool.

· Trainer1 is also engaged in a training project for the global organisation, Mitsubishi Corporation.

· Baker Tilly has commissioned Trainer1 to carry out some course development work following Baker Tilly’s implementation of the CourseMill LMS.

· ABN-AMRO has contracted Trainer1 to further develop a series of anti-money laundering courses, previously created for their staff by Trainer1. These courses are being delivered via e-learning in eight languages across the corporation and have already been successfully used by over 18000 staff.

· Alliance & Leicester has purchased Lectora Publisher from Trainer1 in order to produce its own e-learning materials.

· Associated Newspapers (AN) have commissioned Trainer1 to create learning materials for AN’s legal team which will help to keep this team up-to-date on the laws of libel and related issues.
